Registration opens for TBC Asia: the first PTBA Conference
The PTBA is delighted to announce that registration for the first ever PTBA conference, TBC Asia, in partnership with Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts and SriLankan Airlines, is now open to PTBA members.
Read more about joining the PTBA and sign up as a blogger member here.
This is going to be the first travel blogger focused
conference to be held in Asia, and the first travel blogging conference of its kind in the world, and we are very excited about the concept.
Most excitingly for PTBA members, our partners SriLankan Airlines are offering 50 hosted flights to selected PTBA members from cities in Europe and Asia (see full list of cities at the end), as well as a full accommodation package including food from select Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts properties.
About the conference
The conference will be held from the 14-18th of November, 2014, in Sri Lanka, with the following programme:
The conference will start for our bloggers with a four day trip (14th-17th) around Sri Lanka, experiencing the best that Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts and the country has to offer, from boat safaris to ancient history.
This four day trip, which includes accommodation, transport, meals and mineral water, will also be a superb learning experience – one that hasn’t been done in this format before!
Experts from our community will be on hand for the four day trip, offering on the ground insights and training on content creation techniques, from photography and video, to interviewing, podcasting and more.
We’re going to break out of the classroom, and offer hands-on real-time training to everyone on the trip in small, focused groups, followed up with evening master classes on topics such as post-processing and social media, all against the backdrop of some of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts’ most luxurious locations. It’s going to be an intense, fun, educational four days!
Then, on the 18th November, we’ll head back to Colombo for a full day of more traditional conference content, where travel industry attendees will also be in attendance. We’ll be covering more traditional conference topics, including SEO, the future of digital media, the benefits of working with bloggers, and so on.
Various tracks throughout the day will focus on content that is of benefit to both blogger and industry attendees, and there will also be a speed dating event for bloggers to connect with industry.
Who is eligible to attend?
Hosted blogger positions are only available to current PTBA members, who must also be a member during the conference. To join the PTBA, please click here.
Conference attendance packages for non-PTBA members and interested industry attendees will be announced shortly.
Flight details and other information
Flights are available from the following list of cities which are serviced by Sri Lankan Airlines. The conference is open to all PTBA members regardless of geographic location, but the cost of getting to one of the below airports is to be borne by each member.
Flights can be taken from one city and back to a different city from those on the list, however after the flight is booked and confirmed, any change to the flight schedule will incur a rebooking fee that the member will pay.
A tourist visa is likely to be required to enter Sri Lanka, the cost of which is to be borne by each attendee. This should be in the region of 20 USD. Additionally, depending on the airport chosen, there will be an airport tax to cover, which varies depending on departure airport. Details of those can be found on this TBC Asia page. Note, previously we had believed this tax to be in the region of 50 USD, however some airports, in particular London Heathrow, levy a much higher tax. This is set by the government unfortunately.
